Camila Giorgi is probably playing her best tennis winning at Montreal which was a WTA 1000 tournament and surely the best title in her career. She changed her tennis racket recently and this new one focus on giving more spin and more power to her strikes and we watched how well she used it giving so many problems to her opponents due to how fast she could change the direction of the ball, her positioning was also spot on.
One thing to notice is that she faced Pegula in the semifinals of that tournament before winning 2-0 against Pliskova to get the trophy and now she will have the pleasure to face her once again at Cincinnati.
Pegula is a solid player on hard court but Giorgi has many more matches played on this surface and that experience paid off in that semifinal with the match going to 3 sets but Giorgi winning 6-1 on the 3rd set.
The pressure is on Pegula's shoulders... She is now playing at home soil against an opponent who won a tournament 2 days ago and you can argue that she might want revenge this time but due to how well Giorgi has been playing Pegula shouldn't be happy to face her once again at the start of Cincinnati.
Giorgi's odd is really good in my opinion and Pegula's home factor shouldn't help her a lot in this case. She might get a little anxious when facing the opponent who eliminated her in the semifinals so recently while Giorgi is full of confidence after getting a WTA 1000 tournament win and just like Collins she might be able to build a decent win streak after a successful campaign at Montreal.
Giorgi won all her last 6 matches making her Montreal's champion and 5 of those matches were won in straight sets.
