Everybody is all over Bayern today and I believe rightfully so. Barcelona lost their GOAT in the offseason as Messi left for Paris and they are in the beginning of a slow and painful rebuild that might take some time until they are back on top contending for the Champions League trophy. Their performance in the opening three La Liga games wasn't inspiring; they looked kinda solid, but nowhere near the level of dominance that we've grown accustomed to. They are also without Griezmann now as he left to go back to Atletico Madrid and they're facing a big big task tonight against phenomenal Bayern team. Bayern is simply the better team in this matchup. They have better offense, better midfield and better defense to go along with better goalkeeper (this one might be debatable; the others are not), better coach, more experience in big games and they are in better form. Want some recent head-to-head results to convince you? The teams met in the August of 2020 and Bayern embarassed Barcelona 8-2 on neutral ground in one of the lowest points in Barça's history. And that Barcelona featured Messi, Suarez and Griezzman that are all gone; however, Bayern is almost guaranteed to start 7 players that played in that dominant win in their starting 11 today, with Gnabry, Coman and Sule that also featured in that infamous game also very probable to either start or come off the bench. It's also not like we should be afraid that Bayern will be happy with a point tonight; the only way they know to play is to attack and go for the win, scoring 16 goals in their first 5 official games this year (and a 12-0 dispatchment of lower league opponent that isn't really relavant here), having 27 big chances in those five games (source: Sofascore). It's not like they only faced some scrubs either as their winning streak includes wins over Borussia Dortmund (1-3 away) and RB Leipzig (1-4 away), both away and both being very good and dangerous teams.

The bottom line: Bayern is a better team and should win this game way more than 50% of the time that the line implies. I believe Barcelona's name is the only thing that prevents this line from being down to 1.50 (-200) as I would line it according to the teams actual ability and recent performances. If you want to be safe, go with Draw no bet or Double chance but I believe Bayern will have no problem tonight and don't see it being close. Good luck, unless you're on Barça.
