Highly touted amateur star Hassan Azim is making his pro debut against Croatian journeyman Ivan Njegac. Azim and his brother, who is also fighting on this card are expected to do great things in boxing and have been pushed hard promo wise in the last few months. Although this is Azim’s debut, if you watch his amateur fights from just over a year ago he was an incredibly aggressive and spiteful fighter and I think he’ll carry this into the pro game, where he’ll load up on shots early, especially when he’s fighting journeymen. Azim has an easy first opponent in Njegac who is very easy to hit, offers nothing offensively, has terrible footwork and is just in there to survive. He has been ko’d 7 times in his career, most recently 2 fights ago where he lost in the second round to another British debutant. Azim has mentioned in interviews he’s looking for a ko here and I expect him to do just that, and if his promotional team are true in what they’re saying about him, then we may just be seeing a future British star.
