Ball is an average looking prospect at super middleweight. He’s only fought journeyman so far in his career however, although Mike Guy is a journeyman this is a definite step up in class for Ball. Guy has been in there with the very best and has taken big punchers the distance many times before including against Jesse Hart, Ali Akhemedov and Demond Nicholson. Guy has only ever been stopped once before which was over 5 years ago against Derevyanchenko. The problem with Guy is he doesn’t throw enough punches in fights and basically just goes into them to survive. Guy has good defence and is brilliant in knowing when to tie up. Even though I don’t really rate Ball I think he’ll just outwork Guy in this fight. Ball himself is quite cautious with his punch output however he does throw good counters and should break through Guys defence enough times to win him the rounds. Overall I expect this fight to be quite hard on the eye, but Ball will just do enough over the 10 rounds to win by decision or even if it is close, I’d expect Ball to get the decision as the fight is in his hometown.
