Montana Love is better in every department in this fight. The slick southpaw has fast hands and foot speed, a great straight left and uppercut, and can fight well on both the outside and inside. Love’s record doesn’t suggest he has good power with just 8 ko’s in 16 fights, however he’s managed to stun pretty much every fighter he’s faced and in my opinion actually has underrated punch power. The American is just coming off a great ko win against Ivan Baranchyk and is now having his first fight since signing for Matchroom. His opponent Carlos Diaz has been ko’d once before against another southpaw in Jose Zepada. In that fight he was gassed by round 5 and took punishment both to the head and body before taking a knee and not rising before the ten count. Compared to Love, Diaz’s foot speed and hand speed are incredibly slow and his defence is poor as he doesn’t hold his guard up high and is open for jabs and straights on the outside. Diaz will also try to fight on the inside at times but is open every time for uppercuts as he leads head first with a low guard.

Overall I feel Love is not only the better boxer but does just about everything better than Diaz. The key factor in Love getting the stoppage here is the massive difference in speed and I think Love will eventually start landing on Diaz too much and either gets a referee stoppage or Diaz says no mas.
