Vallecano’s form is atrocious right now. They have a single goal and a single point in their last 5 league matches, and it’s not just bad luck either. 3 of the 5 games saw Vallecano having a sub-1 xG. While their defense played slightly better than the scorelines suggest, you can’t win games without scoring.
Elche is in pretty good form, with 10 points in their last 5. Their lone loss was away to Sevilla. Absolutely no shame in that as Sevilla is literally the best home team this season, and without a single loss. Elche also had a phenomenal 2-2 draw against league leaders Real Madrid, in which they had a 2-goal lead going into the 82nd minute before Real Madrid finally finished their chances. Despite the disappointing finish, I thought Elche's defense played admirably under constant bombardment.
Vallecano is just simply horrific on the road. They have 8 losses in 11 away matches and only a single win, all the way back in September. They haven't scored in 3 straight away matches either.
One worry I have is Elche may be playing without Lucas Boyé, their usual LW/CF, the team co-leader in goals and leader in G+A. Luckily, they still have Pere Milla, who I consider to be one of the more underrated forwards in the league.
