[Football- Europa League] 30.4/ 21:00 Manchester United- AS Rome
First of all, allow me to say sorry again for the pick that lost, I'm fully aware you can't win them all but after several messages of support and thanks before that, I feel somewhat responsible for leading you down the path to a losing bet. I said I'd wait until Friday to post back here, but I feel a little hard done by after Tuesdays game, I had several side bets (that I hope some of you who asked followed) that all hit, yesterday they all hit and yet on Tuesday we got done by the only one out of 5 bets that didn't hit, it was also the lowest odds selection and we were done in the 97th minute of 5 minutes additional time with the literal last kick of the game. I did mention that Charlton were playing bad and hopefully some followed the thread and cashed in time (if your book allows this). But I've been on a decent run and would like to hopefully keep sharing that with you guys if I can.
So we look to todays games, not much on offer besides the obvious Europa league games - I tend to try and not touch Arsenal with a barge pole as they blow so hot or cold they can be unpredictable (they do make for some good lays every now and then, mind you). But that leaves us with the United Roma game, United are 1.6 favourites and rightfully so, but I'll be damned if I get caught by another low odd favourite in 2 picks.
I took a look at the goals both teams are scoring, and more importantly conceding in both their domestic leagues and this UEFA cup.
Lets start with United, in the league their latest 0-0 draw to a notoriously stubborn Leeds was the first game they failed to score in 5, with the latest 3 of those 5 also ending up with over 2.5, their scoring form is even more remarkable in the Europa cup, having scored in every single fixture (bar one) they have played in the competition so far this season.
Roma are on a rocky bit of form, sitting 7th in Serie A and several points adrift they will see the Europa as their focus and the way to secure European football next season, while Roma have only won 2 of their last 5 domestic games - they have scored in all of them (which says to me they are a team that will go for it) like United they too have scored in all bar one of their European games this season (11/12), while also impressively scoring more than 2+ in 10 of those 12.
Rome will be acutely aware of Uniteds attacking threat which I expect to be in full force this evening, Roma will also be aware that containing United even in the reverse fixture will be hard, they will need to try and grab a goal for the away goal advantage at Old Trafford. But as previously mentioned, even then, Uniteds attack against what is a somewhat leaky italian defence should see this fixture somewhat wrapped up in the first leg, I suspect 3-1 United, but O2.5 will do.
