Fognini is aging and has been on the decline since his 2019 Monte Carlo win. Fognini is a slow starter and if he does not win the first set, most likely he is not winning the second set from his record of 0-10 after losing the first set since 2019 to present on clay. Fognini has a tendency to lose interest in matches and give up midway as evident in some of his early round exits this year. Nishikori's consistency and ability to run down every ball will frustrate Fognini into long rallies, most likely resulting in a Fognini unforced error.
