Italy -6.5 against Nigeria Men's Olympic Basketball (2 Units) - What started out as very promising Olympic outlook for Nigeria after beating the USA in an exhibition-has turned sour very quickly.
Nigeria is 0-2 in Group B most recently suffering a 7 point defeat to a good German team. Nigeria hung tough until the fourth when the Germans togetherness and smarter brand of basketball eventually withered Nigeria away.
Which is exactly why I like Italy in this contest. Nigeria is long, athletic and talented but play with very little continuity and have multiple defensive breakdowns a game.
Italy has the Golden State Warriors Nico Mannion often times running the point. Mannion has been excellent in Italy's two Olympic contests so far accumulating 14 assists to just two turnovers.
Italy also beat the German team, that Nigeria just lost to, by ten points in their first game of the tournament.
I expect a similar contest as Nigeria vs. Germany with the Nigerians showing some flashes but the Italians ability to take care of the basketball ultimately being the difference in the game and the spread.
