[Tennis- ATP Cincinatti] 16.8/ 23:00 B.Nakashima- M.McDonald
If you've been tailing Nakashima for the last month, you have made a lot of money. In three tournaments since Wimbledon:
Los Cabos -- won 4 matches (including vs. #30 John Isner) and reached the final
Atlanta -- won 4 matches and reached the final, this time losing to Isner
Washington -- won 2 matches and bowed out in the Round of 16
His loss to Kudla in Washington was his 13th match in 18 days, so fatigue finally caught up. He did not play in the Canadian Open, taking some much needed rest for this tournament in Cincinnati.
McDonald, meanwhile, had a very impressive result in Washington, reaching the final. However, his pathway was less impressive upon further inspection with notable wins over talented headcases Nick Kyrgios and Benoit Paire. His best win was probably vs. #55 Kei Nishikori, a former top 10 player.
Beyond that tournament though, McDonald has been in poor form recently with early exits in Toronto, Atlanta and Los Cabos without registering a single win.
Nakashima leads the H2H with a win in their only prior matchup: 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) in the quarterfinals in Orlando last November. Nakashima just turned 20 years old; he's a rising star compared to the 26-year-old journeyman McDonald.
