[Tennis- WTA US Open] 6.9/ 17:00 I.Swiatek -B.Bencic
Two players having great 2021 seasons meet here, Swiatek has now reached the 4th round in every major this year, and Bencic is in flying form since her Olympic run. They met earlier in the year where Swiatek won 6-2 6-2, I'm not going to put a ton of stock into that match as I think the formlines and confidence were very different at the time, and Bencic is a headcase who is very confidence-dependent. Right now she is absolutely feeling it, yet to drop a set and playing really good tennis. With that being said, this is her toughest matchup in a while and against a player who you have to be really consistent to beat. Swiatek has tons of variety and will get Bencic off her rhythm somewhat. Bencic has more than enough quality to win this match and take sets off Swiatek, but I think this is a classic match where she has a breakdown at some point and finds a way to drop a set too, especially with the different ways Swiatek can test her. Feels like a typical back and forth WTA match with two players at very similar playing levels but who are prone to mental collapses. I think a 3 setter is very much in play here (o2.5 Sets is +130) but I'll just err on the side of caution and take the games over.
