[Boxing- USA] 16.9/ 23:00 A.Akhmedov-D.Zegarra
Coming off his first career loss, Ali Akhmedov faces 36 year old journeyman, David Zegarra in his comeback fight.
Akhmedov was touted for big things as he fought under Gennady Golovkin’s promotional company GGG promotions, however he suffered his first defeat last December losing by ko in the final round. The Kazak will look to come back in style and his team have chosen the perfect opponent to make him do just that. Zegarra has been ko’d 4 times out of his 5 losses, most recently against David Lemieux in June, which ended in 2 rounds. Zegarra while being a bit chinny also looks to quit easy when the going gets tough.
Akhmedov is moving up to light heavyweight for this fight and at the weigh in he looked huge compared to Zegarra. He also looked a lot more natural at the weight then what he did fighting at super middleweight.
I’m expecting the Kazak to go hunting for Zegarra right from the off. He’s great at cutting the ring off and I believe as soon as his right hand lands, Zegarra will be done. Zegarra will be on the backfoot from the get go but like he has done in previous fights, will likely stay on the ropes for too long and allow Akhmedov to land his power shots.
Akhmedov will realise Zegarra is ready for the taking and will load up early here. Therefore I’ve gone for Akhmedov to win in rounds 1-4.
