[Boxing- UK] 18.9/ 19:00 K.Ali- R.Gorst
UK heavyweight Kash Ali is most well known for his DQ loss against David Price, after biting the Liverpudlian in their contest two years ago. Ali has since racked up 4 wins against mediocre opposition, however he has won them all in relatively good fashion. Tonight he is facing the German, Roman Gorst for the IBF European Heavyweight Title.
Ali’s style is quite similar to his fellow countryman Dillian Whyte. Technically he’s not amazing, but he has a good jab and a solid uppercut, which he threw repeatedly against his last opponent, in a chinny Tomas Salek. Roman Gorst has only had 8 pro fights, however he has gone the full 10 rounds twice in his career. Gorst doesn’t look in the greatest shape but he is pretty light on his feet. The German isn’t the easiest to catch with his movement and he’s pretty clever in knowing when to tie up. Gorst most recently fought talented German heavyweight prospect Peter Kadiru and took him the full 10 rounds, but losing in a scrappy affair where he ultimately didn’t land enough.
Gorst keeps his distance well and will probably try to keep the fight on the outside. Whilst Ali likes to fight on the inside and it’s normally where he puts in some of his best work, so I’m expecting Gorst to look to tie up every time both guys get in close. I also think both of these fighters have suspect engines, which is why I could see the fight ending up being messy with a lot of hugging. Ali has 10 ko’s but all of these came against low quality fighters and going up against Gorst who has never been ko’d or knocked down, I think this fight will definitely go past 6 rounds.
