Campbell Hatton, who is the son of British boxing legend Ricky Hatton has so far not looked too impressive in his first three fights. He’s won each fight by decision against very low quality opposition. Tonight he’s facing Martinez who I believe is slightly better than Hatton’s previous opponents, however I’m expecting the fight to go the same way as Hatton’s first three fights.
Martinez has never been stopped in 6 fights and from what I can tell has never even been dropped. In all three of his fights so far, Hatton hasn’t managed to score a knockdown and often smothers his work. This is the first time he is fighting at 6 rounds and normally he sets quite a high pace, so I expect him to have a slightly reduced output in this fight to make sure he doesn’t gas out. Martinez has gone 6 rounds before and in my opinion has fought a better opponent than Hatton in Ireland’s, Ryan O’Rourke. Martinez is light on his feet and will probably catch Hatton now and again, however he just won’t be able to land enough to win rounds. Martinez has also fought at a higher weight class than Hatton so should be able to take his shots well.
Like Hatton’s three other fights I just expect this to go the same way, with him outworking his low quality opponent but not landing anything too troubling that could cause a stoppage, therefore Hatton to win by decision is my pick.
