When we look at Struff we see a baseline player with an agressive tennis style and all of his qualities help him reach that offensive mindset such as a good 1st serve, a powerful backhand that is able to speed up the point and to finish it off he's also solid when he goes up to the net. He had a below average season but last week he reached ATP St Petersburg semifinals beating players like Bublik, Shapovalov and Duckworth who are all quite solid players at this surface.
Tommy Paul reached this tournament by winning 2 qualifiers against Travaglia and Popyrin in 3 set matches on both occasions so Struff is a bit more rested for this match since he didn't need to qualify. Paul made an OK season and he's a good player with a nice backhand, good mobility and solid net play but his service is not the best and he's not comfortable against agressive players such as Struff. At Moscow and St Petersburg he was defeated by both Fritz and Cilic who are all big servers and this only happened a few days ago... He really needs to get better against this type of players otherwise he will struggle to get out of the top 50.
With this surface being Indoor I think Struff's qualities should be able to give a lot of trouble to Paul and I choose the german to win this match.
