Today we have a big game between 2 of the biggest Belgian teams. First place Union take on Genk who reside on a suprising 9th position.
I talked about Union alot on here. They're one of the biggest teams in Belgium with 11 titels won. In the seventies it went downhill with the team and in the early eighties they were demoted to the 4th devision. But since this year they are back in the 1st devision and are back with full force. They are 1st place and are the best footballing team in the league right now, a Leicester like story is in the making. The topscorer of the league Deniz Undav has 18 goals and 9 assists. His partner in the Union attack Dante Vanzeir has 12 goals and 8 assists. They're heading into 4 tough games, they play Genk, Club Brugge, Anderlecht and Antwerp. They're in excellent form with 4 wins and 1 draw in their last 5. Midfielder Senne Lynen is still recovering from and injury.
Genk had a bad start of the season and got a new coach at the start of december. They narrowly lost their first game with the new coach 1-0 vs Gent, after that they won 3 times and drew once. They scored 4 times in each of these 3 wins, something that was an issue at the start of the season. Their striker Paul Onuachu just won the golden boot for best player of the year, netting 33 goals in 38 games for Genk. His tally this year is 12 goals in 18 games. He had a light injury and will start the match on the bench but will definitely come on in the 2nd half. The real man in form for genk is Junya Ito. In his last 5 games he scored 3 and assisted 3 and had an average rating of 8,4 in these 5 games since the new coach arrived.
