[Tennis- ATP Rotterdam] 10.2/ 20:00 T.Grieksppor- M.Fucsovics

Griekspoor is always one of those players that I try to back on the first rounds of a tournament simply because he tends to be so solid and it can be quite hard to find evident weaknesses on him. Everyone knows him quite well mostly because of his records as a Challenger player with 8 titles in one season and 5 consecutive ones being the first player in history to win five straight titles. This happened during 2020/2021 but he is still showing solid work in the ATP tour and sits now at rank 62. His playstyle is suitable for every surface but his solid 1st serve and his net game are some qualities that help him at Indoor which can be a really fast surface where some points usually end in 2 or 3 strikes. He can also be considered an emotionally strong player which might be one of the reasons that made him able to win a lot of tournaments in a row. In the last round he eliminated Karatsev and with the home supporters on his side I think he can go quite far on this tournament.

Fucsovics can be quite similar to Griekspoor in some ways because he also has a solid serve and tends to go to the net a lot but the problem is that he really struggles to find a solid game plan when things are not going as planned. He is not comfortable when he has to play defensively and his backhand is without a doubt his weaker side so his opponents can explore this side quite well if they want to. In the last round he eliminated Krajinovic but the serbian was not at his best and even with both players making a ton of silly errors I always felt that Krajinovic was a bit off on that match after a quite solid Montpellier tournament. Fucsovics is also one of those dudes that plays more for the prize pool than for the actual success in this sport and it's quite rare to see him advance past the first few rounds in almost every tournament.

I think Griekspoor should have the lead here specially playing in his home country against a player that is known for being way too inconsistent. Both players had 3 set matches on the last round and I think this can favour Griekspoor even more who is a lot younger than his opponent.
