This could be a fight of the year contender. Both these guys are come forward fighters and both posses solid power. There’s still a slight doubt as to whether it actually goes ahead due to Martinez not making the weight yesterday, so he has to come in at a certain weight today in order for the fight to take place. Hopefully it will go ahead but with Martinez now having to potentially drain himself overnight, you have to wonder how his body will be going into this. Either way though this should still be an all out brawl and both guys have said they’re willing to go to war to win this.

Martinez is one of the most explosive fighters in boxing right now, he’s an all out offensively minded fighter and often jumps in with powerful hooks. He does lack defence though and was even dropped in his last fight. I do think he struggles slightly too fighting on the backfoot. Gonzalez on the other hand is one of the greatest fighters since the turn of the century and has some of the most fluid combinations you’ll see, let alone his insanely high punch output. He like Martinez, also doesn’t dazzle defensively though and pretty much every fight Chocolatito is in is a dog fight.

Overall I just cannot see this going the distance. For me Gonzalez probably wins this one by stoppage, as I think his volume will eventually overwhelm Martinez and he’ll likely deliver a brutal beating, however I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Martinez deliver a ko out of nowhere and this is what makes it such an exciting fight.
