De Graafschap — or Super Farmers — as they like to be called, have only won four out of sixteen matches at home this season and aren’t precisely in great form at the moment. The side have lost three of their last five games and although they did win in their last fixture against a strong Eindhoven side, they clinched the victory away from their own turf. The visitors, on the other hand, boast a very decent record away from home — with one of the strongest defensive records in the Eerste Divise, conceding an average of 0.62 goals per match and only losing two of their fixtures on the road.
FC Emmen are very well positioned for a return to the Dutch top-flight next season and are six-points ahead of second placed FC Volendam. With six fixtures left to play, I believe that FCE will be playing aggressively for the win in Friday’s match.
The main risk to our bet here is that despite De Graafschap’s poor record at home, they are still pretty solid defensively, keeping three clean sheets in their last five fixtures at home. However, with Emmen showing good signs of offensive prowess in recent matches — scoring 1.6 times per game in their last five vs. their season average of 1.3 — I believe that there’s a good chance the bookies are under looking Emmen’s chances of a win on Friday.
