The next pick I am going with is Marin Cilic to win the match against Tommy Paul here.
These odds in particular seem a little off, as it should be closer to -225 for Cilic to win as evident by several things. The first being that the last time these two faced only one year ago, Cilic won in straight sets and made quick work of Tommy Paul.
Additionally, Cilic has had a better start to the season than Paul as he has been consistently beating opponents in straight sets whereas Paul had two three set victories last week before his loss. Cilic also has more experience compared with Paul and really wants to carry a strong showing in this tournament into the Australian Open.
Finally, we look at the actual game of these two. Cilic is too good of a server for Paul and he will have very little break opportunities whereas Paul is an about average server, and not very good at his second serve, meaning Cilic will have plenty of opportunities. It seems like all the signs point to Cilic and at these odds, he certainly has the upper hand. Tail or fade as necessary but I think this one is a lock.
