A classic London derby on offer today. Arsenal are desperate to continue their ascent of the Premier League table, and have a chance to leapfrog Tottenham in the standings with a win over Crystal Palace today. This season Arsenal have been, in two words, consistently inconsistent, although notably they have won 5 of their last 5 away fixtures in the Premier League. However, they should be able to get the better of Crystal Palace today, not necessarily because they would be the better team overall, but rather largely because Crystal Palace are suffering notable injury concerns which I will highlight next.
Although Arsenal will be facing off against a tough opponent in Crystal Palace, who have made quite a few teams feel the pressure when facing off against them recently, however I believe that Arsenal will be able to get the better of them today. Star-man Wilfried Zaha has returned from international duty with a mean hamstring injury, and will most likely be debilitated and potentially out for the game. Adding on to this, Crystal Palace will likely also be without Michael Olise - who, along with Zaha, have contributed to 24 goals between them this season for Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace are also yet to win a single home game in the Premier League in 2022 with three losses and two draws, albeit one of the draws coming in a gutsy performance against Premier League top-dogs Manchester City.
Crystal Palace has put in some impressive performances this season, losing only to top-7 opponents recently, but I believe that Arsenal have an advantage in both the motivational aspect - as they strive ever closer to securing Champions League football for themselves next season - as well as the overall quality with Zaha and Olise either hindered by injuries on the field, or excluded entirely.
